He demonstrates how the nation is literally torn between the two major races. taxicab speaks of use of goods and services inequalities, educational struggles and income differences among other things that are acquaintd by wizard race versus the other. In addition to speaking of those issues, Hacker introduces other major point of what he calls White Responses. Chapter 4, White Responses, concentrates on how people, more specifically white people respond to the issues that blacks face in America. Hacker separates the nation into conservatives and liberals. In Ameri gutter we delve conservatives as the people who retrieve in personal responsibility, confine government activity, upholding traditional American values and belief in maintaining a strong national defense. In the chapter, Hacker said that conservatives believe that blacks have been agreen many opportunities and therefore should blame tho themselves for the difficulties they face. In a country in which everyone is supposed to be responsible for their own actions and achieve greatness without the help of the government; can you blame conservatives for thinking this management?

I befall to agree with the idea that everyone is responsible for their own successes. That doesnt circumscribe the blacks or whites or anyone else. America is the land of opportunity simply no one ever claimed that it is easy nor is it unattainable. Even though, it can be argued that blacks faces more obstacles than whites in the different institutions, it is also up to the individual how they decide to overcome those obstacles or if they choose to give up. There is an interesting part in this chapter in which Hacker mentions black conservatives who claim that blacks have been playing the victim for way too long and have to learn to be judged by the same standards as everyone else.
