Abstract
This authorship is an endeavor to depict the conditions of the female workers from two
offices. One is social perspective and the other is economic perspective. The
analysis is based on the peck of 151 female workers of 29 cut back industrial
units located in divergent parts of Chittagong Metropolitan area. This study
suggests that the standard of living of the female garment workers is still in
precarious condition and they are not unloosen from the vicious circle of poverty and
face extreme difficulties in obtaining their basic needs for survival even. This
paper recommends measures for improving the reign socio-economic
facilities, to a great extent, to achieve female workers satisfaction at the
maximum level.

1. INTRODUCTION
The readymade garment industry (RMG) has played a pioneering role in the
development of industrial sector of Bangladesh. Though it took a or else late start i.e.
in 1976, it soon established its written report in the world market within a oblivious span of
time.
Consequently, RMG is now one of the main export items of the boorish.
Besides, enriching the countrys rescue it has been playing a vital role in
alleviating unemployment. In the fiscal year 1998-99, export-oriented garment
sector earned US$4,020, which accounted for 75.7 percent of the countrys total
export earnings. Employment in the RMG sector provides female workers with
economic benefits and some empowerment. Over 90 percent of the production
workers diligent in RMG factories are women. Moreover, the industry accounts
