Dante Alighieri (1265-1321) The greatest Italian poet and star of the most important writers of European literature. Dante is best known for the epic poem Commedia, c.1310-14, later named La Divina Commedia. It has profoundly affected not only the religious imagery hardly all subsequent allegorical creation of fanciful worlds in literature. Dante spent much of his life traveling from one city to another. This had maybe more to do with the restless propagation than his wandering character or persistent creditors. However, his Commedia can besides be called a spiritual travel book.
GIOTTO (1266-1337) Known as: Italian Early rebirth Painter & Architect. Giotto is the artist ascribe with starting the Renaissance - he was the first to try motion-picture show people in three dimensions. He painted marvellous angels that looked so human theyd never be able to fly.
Petrarch (Francesco Petrarca) (1327-1348) Italian scholar, poet, and humanist, a major force in the development of the Renaissance. Petrarch is perhaps most famous for his poems addressed to Laura, an idealized beloved whom he met in 1327 and who died in 1348. Attempts have been made to identify her, but all that is known is that Petrarch met Laura in Avignon, where he had entered the household of an influential cardinal.



She is generally believed to have been the 19-year-old wife of Hugues de Sade. Petrarch saw her first sentence in the church of Saint Claire. According to several newfangled scholars, it is possible that Laura was a fictional character. However, she was a more realistically presented female character than in the conventional songs of the troubadours or in the literature of courtly love.
