I chose to write on, The Welcome Table. Alice stroller portrays on the racism of life with an old chick who walks a ways to a white church. It seemed as if the church is where no racism is to come and that we are all Gods children and that it really didnt matter about the color of your skin, except that you served the Lord. This old lady learns different on this Sunday morning. The author Alice walker sets a scene to allow you to see the character and to feel their thoughts.
It shows the racism being portrayed in a place where we never thought it would exist, (Clugston, 2010, section 3.1)..
The story began by describing this old lady walking a half land mile to a church that she gave not thought to as if it was a black or a white church. All she cherished to do was praise the Lord. The author who tells the story in one-third person begins by giving an insight of what the old lady looked like. The author was very descriptive about what she wore. Leaving me, as the reader a sense of being present, even by mentioning what she smelled like.
As she walked up to church she was accepted by some, except looked down on by others. The preacher meets her at the doorstep to let her know that she had come to the wrong church.
